Vancouver’s BlueBat Games acquired by Greentube

At the ICE Gaming Conference today, Greentube announced that it had acquired a controlling interest in social gaming startup BlueBat Games. Terms of the deal were not disclosed.

A Vancouver-based startup, and member of GrowLab’s (now HIGHLINE) 2012 cohort, BlueBat Games builds tools that allow developers and casino brands to socialize their mobile and browser-based games. BlueBat had previously built Greentube’s social casino marketing platform, Greentube Pro.

“We worked closely with the BlueBat team on a number of projects in the past year,” said Thomas Graf, CEO of Greentube. “After the launch of Greentube Pro, it became apparent that BlueBat and Greentube’s approach to social gaming were in direct alignment. The acquisition was the next logical step in our progression.”

The acquisition will allow BlueBat to develop additional white label solutions for casino brands.

“We’re thrilled for Kenny, Tim, and the whole BlueBat team for what will be an exciting next chapter in their growth,” said HIGHLINE founder Marcus Daniels. “Also, this is a great win for the HIGHLINE model, as it is one of the best financial outcomes so far from a Canadian accelerator with a double digit multiple return. Our early investment in BlueBat demonstrates HIGHLINE’s ability to not only pick early winners, but also help founders build valuable businesses.”

Disclosure: BetaKit’s office is located in the co-working space of HIGHLINE’s Toronto campus.
