Ticketfly acquires Northern Tickets, reaches milestone of $1 billion in gross sales

San Fransisco-based Ticketfly expanded its operations into Canada early 2013 and has seen rapid success ever since. Perhaps it’s the rich Canadian soil or our giving nature, but TicketFly announced it surpassed a massive milestone of selling 16 million tickets for a cumulative $1 billion in gross ticket sales, with $500 million of which was processed in 2014.

In addition to the financial numbers, Ticketfly has acquired Vancouver-based Northern Tickets for an undisclosed amount. Northern Tickets is the in-house ticketing service MRG Group, which owns and operates several high profile music venues and events across Canada, including Vogue Theatre and Adelaide Hall.

Andrew Dreskin, Ticketflyco-founder and CEO, stated, “acquiring Northern Tickets and adding The MRG Group—owner and operator of legendary venues including Vancouver’s Vogue Theatre—to our client roster marks another momentous day in Ticketfly’s history. We are delighted to welcome them to the family. We’ve seen tremendous growth in Canada since launching there a couple years ago, with gross ticket sales up 80% year-over-year in 2014 alone. We’ve become the go-to solution for independent venues and promoters across Canada, and we believe that this transaction signals continued growth for us up there.”
