Listn acquired by Beatport, app will be shutting down at the end of the month

Montreal-based startup MFive Labs launched its Listn music app back in November 2013. The former FounderFuel and LaunchPad LA company raised $500,000 from Real Ventures and BDC Venture Capital. The startup calls the Listn app the “first music app that creates relationships through music,” by forming a social network around peoples’ music libraries. Users follow each other and can instantly access each other’s music libraries.

Announced today on its blog, Listn stated they will be joining online music store Beatport and work out of its New York City office.

Mike Schmidt, Co-Founder & CEO of Listn, said, “When we first started Listn we set out to change and improve the way the world shares and communicates via the music they love. Now, over a year later we’re proud to be joining a company that shares that mission!”

The terms of the deal were new disclosed and the Listn app will be shutting down at the end of the month and the app will be removed from the App Store.

“We are a part of their incredible goal to round out the end-to-end experience, from live events to digital music, said Schmidt. “Now more than ever, we are focused on building a community for people from all walks of life, united by music.”
